Emission measurement
Emission measurement in your industry
The rules, the parameters and the typical levels differ between industries. Here are the seven we measure in most, with what applies to each: which rules govern, what is to be measured, how often and what is typical. Can't find your industry? Call +46 10 155 05 60 – we measure in more industries than we list.
Industries
Which industry is it?
-
District heating and CHP
Boilers from 1 MW to CHP plants: medium and large combustion plants, the NOx charge and boilers firing recovered wood.
-
Waste incineration
The Swedish Ordinance on Waste Incineration (SFS 2013:253) and the BAT conclusions: continuous measurement, metals and dioxins twice a year, QAL2 and AST, the biogenic share of CO2.
-
Sawmills and pellets
Wood chip boilers, timber kilns and sawdust dryers: dust, CO and NOx under the Swedish Ordinance on Medium Combustion Plants (SFS 2018:471) and the conditions in the permit.
-
Crematoria
Mercury, dust, CO and TOC from cremation furnaces. The conditions are set in the notification or the permit, and the measurement is made over several cremations.
-
Pulp and paper
Recovery boiler, lime kiln, dedicated TRS burner and bark boiler: the BAT conclusions for pulp and paper, TRS, SO2, NOx and dust.
-
Steel and foundries
Electric arc furnaces, rolling mills, pickling, galvanising and foundries: dust, metals, dioxins and HCl under four BAT conclusions.
-
Chemicals and pharmaceuticals
Process waste gases and solvents: the Swedish solvents ordinance, the BAT conclusions for waste gas treatment in the chemical sector and TOC measurement with an FID.
Regulations
Rules that apply across industries
-
Medium combustion plants
Boilers, engines and gas turbines of 1–50 MW: registration, periodic measurement and limit values under the Swedish Ordinance on Medium Combustion Plants (SFS 2018:471).
-
Large combustion plants
From 50 MW: continuous measurement, the BAT conclusions and the Swedish Ordinance on Large Combustion Plants (SFS 2013:252).
-
QAL2 and AST
Calibration and annual surveillance test of automated measuring systems according to EN 14181, whatever the industry.
-
Environmental reporting and self-monitoring
What the annual environmental report must contain, when it is submitted and which measurements self-monitoring is built on.
