What does an emission measurement cost?

A dust measurement costs about SEK 15,000–30,000 and a periodic measurement of dust, NOx and CO on one boiler SEK 15,000–35,000, excluding VAT and travel. This guide gives approximate prices for the most common measurements, from dust measurement to QAL2, what is included and what decides where the price lands. Tell us what you are going to measure and you get a fixed price within two working days.

Approximate prices 2026

The prices are approximate, apply to one sampling location and exclude VAT and travel. Where the price lands depends on the logistics and the conditions on site. In the quote you get a fixed price.

MeasurementApproximate price 2026
Dust measurementDust at one sampling location, with gas flow and moisture content SEK 15,000–30,000
Emission measurement, MCPPeriodic measurement at a medium combustion plant, 1–50 MW: dust, NOx, CO and O2 SEK 15,000–35,000
Emission measurement, LCPPeriodic measurement at a large combustion plant: SO2, NOx, dust, CO, O2, gas flow and moisture content, plus BAT parameters such as HCl, HF and Hg. Analyses included SEK 55,000–110,000
Periodic measurement, waste incinerationHCl, HF, SO2, NOx, CO, TOC, dust, metals, mercury and dioxins on one line. Analyses included SEK 80,000–140,000 per line
NOx comparison measurementCheck of a measuring system for the Swedish NOx charge according to the Swedish EPA's regulations NFS 2016:13 SEK 20,000–40,000
ASTAnnual surveillance test of an automated measuring system (AMS) according to EN 14181: at least five parallel measurements SEK 30,000–60,000 per measuring system
QAL2Calibration of an automated measuring system (AMS) according to EN 14181: at least 15 parallel measurements over at least three measurement days SEK 60,000–90,000 per measuring system

All prices in SEK excluding VAT, travel and overnight stays, with an accredited report. For waste incineration a full programme with sampling of ash, slag and condensate is quoted separately.

How the price is built up

  1. Planning

We read the permit or the ordinance, choose methods and sampling locations and agree operating conditions and times with you. About the same amount of work however many stacks or ducts are to be measured.

  2. Travel and set-up

A car with equipment, carrying it up to the measurement site and rigging probes, instruments and gas meters. For a small campaign this is the largest part of the cost, and it is done once per visit.

  3. The measurement

The sampling itself takes from an hour or so to several days per stack or duct, depending on the parameters and the number of sampling locations. This is the part that grows with the number of stacks, ducts and sampling locations.

  4. Evaluation and report

Weighing of filters, evaluation of the measurement data and an accredited report. The groundwork is done once per campaign, and each stack or duct adds its share.

Several stacks or ducts in the same visit

  • Set-up is done once. The journey, carrying the equipment up and rigging it cost the same for one stack as for five.
  • The next stack costs the measurement time. Another boiler in the same visit costs the sampling and its share of the report, not a new set-up. That is why the price per stack or duct is lower when several are measured on the same occasion.
  • Put the measurements in the same visit. Several boilers, several stacks, or a periodic measurement and an AST at the same plant: plan them together. We help you put together a measurement programme that suits the operation.

Getting people and equipment on site is the largest part of the cost. Once we are there, the next stack or duct costs only the measurement time.

What the price includes

Part of the campaignIncluded?
Planning and measurement programme Included
The measurement on site with accredited methods Included
Weighing of filters and analysis with our own instruments Included
Accredited report Included
Travel, car and overnight stays Extra, charged per campaign
Work in the evening, at night and at weekends Extra
Analyses at external laboratories, for example metals, mercury and dioxins Extra, except for large combustion plants and waste incineration, where they are included in the price
Measurements outside the packages Charged by the hour as stated in the quote

Travel is charged per campaign

Travel comes on top and is charged per campaign: travel time per hour and person, car mileage and any overnight stay. If you are far from Enköping, Falun or Skellefteå, it is often two days instead of one, with an overnight stay. We are happy to coordinate with other campaigns in your area; that lowers the travel cost for both.

What decides where the price lands

  • Number of stacks, ducts and sampling locations. Set-up is done once per visit, so several stacks or ducts on the same occasion give a lower price per stack. More sampling locations or operating conditions on the same stack or duct mean more hours.
  • The measurement site. Ports in the right place, a platform to stand on and power nearby mean that we measure instead of rigging. What is needed is in the guide to measurement site design.
  • The distance. Travel comes on top, but the distance also decides whether the campaign takes one day or two. Close to one of our offices it is usually one day.
  • The measurement programme. Unusual parameters, analyses at external laboratories or special requirements in the permit take more time on site and in the report.

Common additions

The prices cover the parameters listed in each package. Common additions that affect the price are SO2, TVOC, HCl and HF, metals and mercury, dioxins, more measurement planes or operating conditions, and work outside office hours. Tell us what the permit requires and the quote gives you the price for the whole programme.

How to get a fixed price

The prices apply for 2026 and exclude VAT. In the quote you get a fixed price for the whole campaign. Write what is to be measured, how many stacks or ducts it concerns, where the plant is and whether there are sampling ports and a platform, and we reply within two working days. Request a quote or call, and we will talk it through.

Frequently asked questions about the price

Can you give a price straight away?

Yes, an approximate one. Tell us what is to be measured, how many stacks or ducts it concerns, where the plant is and whether there are sampling ports and a platform, and you get an estimate over the phone. The fixed price comes in the quote within two working days.

Why does QAL2 cost more than AST?

QAL2 requires at least 15 parallel measurements spread over at least three measurement days, and the result is a calibration function that is valid until the next QAL2, normally for five years. AST is the annual check that the function is still valid: at least five parallel measurements, usually in one day.

Are the analyses included?

Weighing of dust filters and analysis with our own instruments are always included. Analyses at external laboratories, such as metals, mercury and dioxins, are included in the prices for large combustion plants and waste incineration and come extra otherwise. Which analyses are included is always stated in the quote.

Is it cheaper with a contract over several years?

Yes, usually. Recurring measurements are planned together with other campaigns in the area, and we know the plant, so the planning and the time on site are shorter.

What happens to the price if the measurement site is not ready?

We measure anyway. If there is no platform or the ports are awkward to reach, rigging takes longer, and that shows as more hours in the price. The cheapest option is to ask us before you build: the guide to measurement site design shows where the ports should go and how large the platform needs to be.

What does measurement outside office hours cost?

Evening, night and weekend work is charged with an overtime supplement. If the operating condition has to be run at night, we state what it costs in the quote.
