Temperature measurement
Metlab offers equipment for the accurate determination of the temperature of gases; everything from simpler sets of hand-held instruments with associated thermocouples (type K), to suction pyrometers used for measurement at high temperatures, e.g. in fireplaces.
Measurement with a suction pyrometer
In suction pyrometer measurements, the principle is to reduce the effect of the temperature sensor’s heat transfer via radiation by increasing the convective heat transfer from the flue gas. The suction pyrometer must have a length that allows traversing in the measuring plane, e.g. in the fireplace. The flow of cold water must be sufficient to prevent boiling in the suction pyrometer. The suction unit must have a sufficiently high capacity to provide up to 100 m/s near the temperature sensor.
- The nozzle is easily removed for cleaning, inspection and replacement.
- Nozzle made of high-temperature metal or ceramic to withstand high temperatures
- Water-cooled suction pyrometer made of stainless steel
- Standard suction pyrometer of length 2 – 2.5 – 3 – 3.5 – 4 – 4.5 meters
- Extendable suction pyrometer can be supplied, e.g. 1.5 + 1.5 + 1.5 = 4.5 m
- The diameter of the suction pyrometer is 35 mm, alternatively 43 mm for the extendable type
- A compressed air driven ejector is used in the suction unit which also contains a measuring flange for measuring the sample gas flow
- A protective condensate separator and filter unit is placed upstream of the suction unit
